We have been here from the very beginning, when much of the area was still under construction. We have seen IJburg develop over the years, and it is still evolving today. The neighbourhood is becoming greener as all the newly planted trees and landscaping mature, while new amenities continue to be added. Nearby Zeeburgereiland is also developing into a cultural destination, with plans including a cinema in one of the former silos. IJburg is spacious and still feels a little like a holiday island to us. Sports facilities and restaurants are close by, and our apartment is just a short distance from the lively marina, where we like to drop into restaurant NAP every now and then. Another favourite is restaurant Vrijburgt on Steigereiland, which can be reached via a lovely walk through Diemerpark. The excellent accessibility has also been a major advantage. We both work in central Amsterdam and often cycle there, but having the tram so close by is extremely convenient. We have loved our bright and peaceful apartment on IJburg and will certainly miss it. We are now setting off on a new adventure, just as you may be. We hope you enjoy this wonderful place as much as we have! LAYOUT The communal entrance provides access to the lower level and the two lifts. The private storage unit of approximately 6 m² is located in the building’s large communal garage. The combination of its sixth-floor position and the southwest orientation of the entire apartment makes the property exceptionally bright. The open-plan kitchen has an L-shaped layout and offers a surprising amount of storage and worktop space. As the kitchen extends partially into the living room, it creates an attractive layout with plenty of flexibility when arranging the living area. The kitchen is also equipped with various built-in appliances, including an induction hob, oven, microwave and dishwasher. The spacious balcony adjoins the living room and is accessed through a sliding door. The sun reaches the balcony from late morning and remains there throughout the afternoon and evening. Whether enjoying a long lunch or relaxing outside, there is plenty of room for both. The apartment has two bedrooms. The main bedroom is generously sized and has direct access to the bathroom, as well as ample space for a large wardrobe. The second bedroom is also a good size and works equally well as a full-sized bedroom, home office or children’s room. The bathroom can be accessed from both the main bedroom and the hallway and is fitted with a shower and washbasin. The separate toilet is located in the hallway, as is the entrance to the internal storage room with a connection for the washing machine. Oak engineered parquet flooring runs through both the living room and bedrooms, giving the interior a warm and understated feel. LOCATION IJburg has something for everyone. On summer days, beach lovers can relax or go surfing at the city beach, while Diemerpark offers plenty of greenery for walking, cycling and enjoying the outdoors. Those who enjoy spending time on a terrace will find a wide choice of restaurants around the marina, along IJburglaan and on Steigereiland. IJburg’s shopping centre is nearby and offers two large supermarkets (Albert Heijn and Vomar), HEMA, Bagels & Beans, a pharmacy, an excellent bookshop and various other shops for everyday essentials. Every Saturday, the local ‘Reuring Markt’ takes place at Joris Ivensplein, offering a varied selection of local products. Many other amenities, including primary schools, childcare facilities, secondary schools (VWO, HAVO and VMBO) and a medical centre with a pharmacy, are all within walking or cycling distance. The location is also highly convenient, with Amsterdam city centre nearby and easy access to both the A10 ring road and the A1 motorway. Tram 26 takes you to Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ, the Amsterdam Public Library and Amsterdam Central Station in approximately 15 minutes. In short, IJburg offers plenty of space to live, relax and enjoy the outdoors and the water, all within easy reach of Amsterdam city centre.
