Tourneurs is largely constructed from brick, characteristic of the 19th-century industrial architectural style. The exceptionally well-preserved steel skeleton structure within the building was, at the time, an innovative construction technique that allowed for large open spaces inside the building, while remaining strong and stable enough to support heavy industry. Additionally, the large, rectangular windows – spread across multiple floors – are a textbook example of the functional beauty found in industrial architecture.
