I found the property myself on Funda and the makelaar assisted with negotiations. In my experience the cost of the makelaar did not align with the process and the service. I think if the makelaar had been more active in finding properties that were aligned with what I was looking for, then maybe the cost would be justified.
I was disappointed with the agent's communication, as a result, I missed the inspection because the time was not communicated to me. This was my first time buying property in the Netherlands, I expected a lot more care and assistance from the agency including sending reminders of the upcoming appointmentments, verifying times etc.
While this is not a must but a nice to have, given the cost of the service, a small gift (maybe flowers) at the end when we do the key exchange would have been a nice touch.
Key takeaways; communication could have been better and a more customer centric approach to the client would have gone a long way. I definitely learnt a lot from this experience.
