To the west of Heerde lies the recreational area Heerderstrand, nestled between the forest and heath. Around the lake, you will find both a sandy beach and a large sunbathing area. There are two kiosks, toilets, taps, and showers, as well as ample parking. This lake and its surrounding forest are frequently visited year-round.
In addition to extensive recreational opportunities and beautiful, varied natural areas, Heerde offers excellent educational facilities, a great selection of shops, numerous industrial activities, and a vibrant community life. The municipality of Heerde has a Christian secondary school offering vocational, general secondary education (mavo), higher general secondary education (havo), and atheneum, as well as several primary schools. Heerde is highly sought after as a residential and working municipality.

A50 Zwolle - Apeldoorn, exit 29 Wapenveld/Heerde, towards Heerde.
From the south: A50 Apeldoorn - Zwolle, exit 28 Heerde, Epe North.
