Aalsmeer
Aalsmeer is an attractive village in the Randstad. It boasts a vibrant community life, and the Westeinderplassen lakes are a unique recreation and nature reserve. Aalsmeer even has a beach along the Westeinderplassen lake. The Pramenrace, the large fireworks display, and the festival week are annual spectacles in September. In addition, there are events organized almost weekly, from art routes to culinary evenings, from beach volleyball tournaments to classic car rallies. There are many sports clubs, churches, a sailing school and surf club, numerous marinas, plenty of restaurants, and cafes, and the shops in Aalsmeer's city center offer ample options for both daily and non-daily groceries. Aalsmeer is easily accessible by car and offers excellent public transport connections (R-net express bus) to Schiphol Airport (transfer to the Circle Line) and Hoofddorp (both train stations), Haarlem, Amsterdam, and Utrecht. Schiphol Airport is only a ten-minute drive away, and a fifteen-minute bus ride. Amsterdam city center is a half-hour drive away.
