The seller explains What makes the current residents enjoy living here so much and why have they decided to sell the property? The seller explains. When did you buy the property and why did you decide to buy it at that time? We bought this house in 2022. We still remember the moment the door opened and we were overwhelmed by the light flooding into the living room/kitchen – this was one of the main reasons we bought it, because thanks to its south/south-east facing position, this house is bathed in light and sunshine all year round! The property and the street are also very quiet, making it a peaceful home. As we were expecting our first child at the time, the ground floor nursery was obviously a huge bonus! We also liked the fact that we lived so close to the city centre, yet in a quiet neighbourhood. What makes living in this house and neighbourhood so pleasant? The layout of our home, which we partially renovated when we moved in, was designed in consultation with an architect to make optimal use of the space. The living room/kitchen offers a comfortable and very bright living space. We had an extra bedroom added for our first child. With windows on both sides of the room to preserve the natural light and open atmosphere of the home, we really like the slightly “workshop-like” effect. We also installed a large wardrobe in the hall to make the most of the space. The master bedroom and bathroom are spacious and comfortable. The 12 m² storage room on the 4th floor is also a big plus! We have a very good relationship with the two other neighbours with whom we share the building (a very discreet and friendly man in his 40s who lives alone, and a very nice couple in their early 30s). We have thoroughly enjoyed living in Blasiusstraat and, more generally, in the Weesperzijden neighbourhood over the past few years. We have fallen in love with this street, which is characterised by its beautiful, typical Amsterdam buildings, its proximity to the Amstel river, which treated us to breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, walks with our dog and children, and a few dips in the Amstel and picnics in the summer! It is a quiet street where life is good and where you immediately feel at home. There is a WhatsApp group for all residents of the street and a few times a year, drinks/barbecues are organised on the small square in the middle of the street (in the summer, for neighbourhood parties, for St. Maarten, children's parties, etc.). It's a very pleasant way to get to know your neighbours! All age groups and family situations are represented in the street, creating a cheerful “melting pot”. The neighbourhood is nothing short of perfect: right in the heart of the beautiful Weesperzijde area, yet peaceful and quiet, without any disturbance from restaurants or traffic on Wibautstraat. The trendy Oost district is literally a 5-minute walk away, while you can also cross the Amstel river in 5 minutes and find yourself in the middle of De Pijp. There are many childcare facilities in the neighbourhood, the closest of which is just down the street. Primary schools are also nearby (Pinksterbloem / Aldoende). The supermarket is 5 minutes away. On Saturday mornings, it's wonderful to go shopping at the Albert Cuijp market (10 minutes' walk) or pick up fresh bread rolls at Bakhuys (5 minutes' walk) or Deguelle Patisserie (3 minutes' walk). And if you don't feel like rolling up your sleeves, IJsbreeker is always just a stone's throw away. In any case, there is a lot to discover in terms of restaurants and cafés in the neighbourhood. Favourite cafés include the IJsbreeker, The Greek Embassy, Café Bica and Hesp. The choice of restaurants is even greater: top restaurants such as 4850, Pepe Nero, Magna or Loulou Pizzabar, as well as Traiteur Vincent or Dought Studio for a quicker bite. Why are you leaving/why is the house for sale? Ideally, we would have liked to stay longer, but with the birth of our second child, our house unfortunately became too small. This house was a kind of cocoon for us, where we have lived with great pleasure. We will certainly miss it!
