The seller explains What makes the current resident enjoy living here so much and why has she decided to sell the property? The seller explains. When did you buy the property and why did you decide to buy it at that time? In 2015, I moved into this lovely apartment on a rental basis. I quickly fell in love with this beautiful neighborhood: the Weesperzijde with its monumental buildings, the beautiful cycling and walking route along the Amstel, the view of the boats, the long evening sun, the beauty and urban allure—it suited me perfectly. Not only did I fall head over heels for the location, but the exceptionally large roof terrace overlooking the green courtyard garden with its 19th-century facades meant that I didn't have to think twice when I had the opportunity to buy it in 2017. Since 2020, the two of us have been living there, and we are very happy. What makes living in this house and neighborhood so pleasant? We love the liveliness of Amsterdam, but we find it just as important that our house is a place where you can really relax. The abundance of light, privacy, and unobstructed view at the front make it wonderful to live here amid the hustle and bustle of the city. Behind the house is our large roof terrace, a green oasis where we can enjoy the sun from early morning until late at night; our plants and vegetable garden thrive here. We love to lie in the hammock with a good book or eat long summer evenings with friends at the picnic table. In the evening, we often take a walk along the Amstel, where illuminated living rooms, old facades, and expansive skies sometimes create an almost magical atmosphere. The Weesperzijde neighborhood, and more specifically the Swammerdam neighborhood, is a special part of the city: close to the center, yet wonderfully quiet and well connected. Within ten minutes, you can be at both Amsterdam Central Station and Amstel Station, with the metro just around the corner. This makes it incredibly easy to visit friends and family outside the city or to go out on a spontaneous trip. The studio on the 4th floor we renovated it a few years ago. Previously used as an office, since the renovation it can also be used as a separate apartment to rent out or for family and friends in need. We love welcoming people and offering them a place to sleep or work. Why are you leaving/why is the property for sale? With a view to expanding our family, we were planning to build an extra room and the studio on the 4th floor would serve as a guest room for our parents-in-law. When the opportunity arose to buy a house together, we decided (with a heavy heart) to put our current apartment up for sale and hopefully make someone else very happy with it.
