It is car-free, making it a lovely quiet place to live. The monumental Café Restaurant Amsterdam is the bustling center of the Westergas area.
There are various facilities in the neighborhood such as the vegetable gardens where you can become a member, playgrounds, a special 1-room hotel and within walking distance stores, cinemas (Filmhuis Cavia, the Ketelhuis and the Movies) and the Westerpark including a petting zoo and nature playground Woeste Westen. The Westergasterrein further offers cultural events and many cozy restaurants.
There are several trendy restaurants such as Mossel & Gin, Cantine de Caron, Brouwerij Troost, and restaurant Bar Kantoor.
The Westergasterrein regularly hosts musical and other cultural events.
Bus 21 and streetcar 13 (March 1, 2027, streetcar 3 will run here again) stop within walking distance and the A10 can be reached within minutes via the Haarlemmerweg.
Central Station and Sloterdijk Station are a 10-minute bike ride away.
Several elementary school and childcare centers are located nearby.
