A place where the very best of Amsterdam is quite literally around the corner. The Seller’s Story Since 2012, I have had the pleasure of calling this little pink casita in De Pijp my home. It was my first property purchase, and I immediately renovated it from top to bottom. Finally, I had a place of my own where I could express myself completely. I loved every minute of it. I have always cared for this home with great affection, and over the years it has undergone several transformations, each with its own colors and style. I was thrilled when, in 2021, I had the opportunity to replace the old Amsterdam-style bathroom with a brand-new one. This was followed by replacing the single glazing with double glazing for added comfort. Together with my neighbors, we also renovated the balconies, thankfully preserving their beautiful traditional wooden character. This home feels like a sanctuary in the middle of the hustle and bustle of De Pijp. Especially during my years working as a flight attendant, it was always wonderful to return and land here. Although the apartment is located in the heart of vibrant De Pijp—with countless opportunities for dining out, shopping, and enjoying coffee—it has always felt like a place where I could truly come home and unwind. After all these years, I still enjoy the view down Tweede Sweelinckstraat. Every day, I take a moment to sit on the sofa and gaze outside, watching life unfold. I can honestly say it never gets boring. As soon as the first rays of spring sunshine appear, I throw open the doors and let the sunlight pour in. The living room benefits from natural light at both the front and rear, creating a wonderful sense of space. And because the balcony faces south, I can enjoy the sun there throughout the afternoon. The unobstructed view at the front, the south-facing balcony, and the French doors in both the living room and bedroom all contribute to a wonderful feeling of freedom in the middle of the city. Whenever I feel like embracing the city's energy, there is plenty to enjoy nearby. I shop at the Albert Cuyp Market, regularly walk along the Amstel River, and almost every day I spend some time relaxing in nearby Sarphatipark. Everything is within walking distance. In the evenings, I enjoy dinner on the balcony, in the park, or at one of the many lovely restaurants in the neighborhood. At the end of the day, I retreat to the cozy bedroom, which is fortunately located at the quiet rear of the apartment. The bedroom also features French doors that can be opened wide, allowing you to wake up to the sound of birdsong in the morning. I am incredibly grateful to have spent fourteen years of my life here. This home has given me so much, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. At the same time, I look forward to starting a new chapter and lovingly passing this special home in De Pijp on to its next owner—someone who can create their own beautiful new beginning here and, hopefully, find as much happiness in this place as I have.
