Description
Unique opportunity! This charming penthouse with no less than four (study) bedrooms, two bathrooms and three balconies is located on the fourth and fifth floors of a monumental building located on the Spui (with elevator) and features a spacious roof terrace with great views over the rooftops of the city. This beautiful apartment was put in to use around 1900 as a studio residence and has a spacious, very bright living room with views towards the Spui and Het Begijnhof. Would you like to live spacious and comfortable in the middle of the bustling center of Amsterdam? Then make an appointment for a viewing!
This beautiful monumental building known as ‘Gebouw Helios’ was built in Art Nouveau style designed by architect G. van Arkel. The principal was photographer M. Büttinghausen. He ran a store (art shop) on the first floor and established his “photographic studio” on the two upper floors. His name appears in mosaic on the frieze above the first floor. The design was submitted to the architectural competition of the World's Fair in Paris in 1900, where it won a bronze medal. The reliefs on the facade were created by the artists Van den Bossche and Crevels.
Layout:
Ground floor: communal entrance located on the Voetboogstraat with enclosed staircase and elevator.
Fourth floor: entrance hall with closet, boiler room and separate toilet. The spacious living room is located on the side of the Spui and gives access to the spacious balcony overlooking the Begijnhof. The living room has a generous seating area and is particularly light thanks to the large sloping window above the dining area (Northern Lights). Adjacent you will find a work / bedroom with work area, beautiful closets and doors to the semi-circular balcony. The spacious separate kitchen (approx. 19m²) is located at the rear and has several appliances and more than enough work and storage space. At the rear you will also find the second bedroom with balcony, stained glass windows and a private bathroom with sink, shower and radiator.
Fifth floor: here you will find two spacious bedrooms, one with closet with washing machine connection. The centrally located bathroom has a sink cabinet, a toilet, a shower and a bathtub. Via a short staircase from the landing you reach the very spacious roof terrace with great views over the Amsterdam rooftop landscape.
