Description
Unique Home and Workspace in a Former Blacksmith's Workshop in Amsterdam
In the charming village heart of Oud-Sloten_where city meets serenity_you'll find this detached property full of history and character. Once a blacksmith's workshop, it now offers a rare opportunity to live and work in a truly unique setting.
Inside, the house provides ample space for comfortable living combined with room for a home office, studio, or practice. Outside, a deep and private garden awaits, complete with mature landscaping, a pond, pergola, and private rear entrance. A remarkably spacious plot_especially by Amsterdam standards.
Character, Space, and Flexibility
After serving for decades as a spacious workshop, this building was carefully converted in 1992 by the current owners into a warm and versatile home. Behind the striking façade, you'll find a large indoor garage of approx. 51 m², and at the rear a sunny, deep garden of approx. 350 m²_an absolute rarity in Amsterdam.

A Glimpse into the Past
This property started as a wooden farrier's workshop, where travelers from the inn across the road would have their horses shod. In 1914, the current brick building was constructed, featuring two side windows and a central double-door entrance, later replaced by a three-part garage door and separate entry.
The property remained in use as a blacksmith's workshop until the end of 1992. The horse-post remained outside until recently, removed during street renovation. The original house was approx. 14 meters deep, with a rear plot and an outhouse suspended above the canal. Around 1960, a 25-meter-deep rear workshop was added.
The home is freestanding, with a charming connection to the neighboring structure on one side, and a gate with walkway on the other. There's also a private access to the garden at the rear.
