Description
Welcome to Burgemeester van Tienenweg!
Located in the charming and historic center of Diemen, just around the corner from Amsterdam, we are pleased to offer this spacious, bright, and charming family home with delightful front and back gardens. This authentic property has been meticulously maintained and offers a generous living space of approximately 143 m². The home features four well-sized bedrooms, a modern bathroom, a spacious and light-filled living room with an inviting kitchen, all situated in a beautiful location. The northeast-facing rear garden includes a detached stone storage unit and a back entrance. The property sits on 136 m² of freehold land. Truly a family home that must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.
From the current owners:
We have enjoyed living in this wonderful home for over 11 years. The space and both the front and back gardens have brought us great joy, there is always a sunny or shady spot to relax. Van Tienenweg is a peaceful street with a close-knit community, shared green space across the road, and convenient parking right in front of the house. The previous owners laid the foundation for the current layout, preserving many original elements such as the pass-through between the kitchen and dining area. They also transformed the attic into a spacious and functional room. When we moved in, we extended the rear balcony and added the generous bathroom. Our children attended primary school in Diemen and cycled to their secondary schools in Amsterdam. Diemen has been a wonderful place for them to grow up. Now that they are (almost) grown up, it’s time for us to take the next step and make room for new residents to enjoy this lovely home.
Layout:
Through the neatly landscaped front garden, you enter the home by the front door. The entrance immediately impresses with its tasteful finish, natural light, and inviting atmosphere. The spacious hallway features authentic floor tiles and modern wall finishes. It includes a cloak area and a modern electrical panel with multiple circuit breakers and safety switches. From the hallway, you access the corridor, which connects to the living room, toilet, understairs storage (ideal as a wine cellar), and staircase to the first floor. The toilet features a floating design, partial tiling, and a small sink. You then enter the spacious and bright through-living room with a semi-open, L-shaped kitchen at the rear. Thanks to the charming bay window at the front and the large rear-facing windows with direct access to the garden, the room is filled with natural light. A welcoming ambiance is created through the combination of modern finishes, a wooden floor, and a decorative fireplace. A rounded arch divides the living room into a seating and dining area. The semi-open kitchen (2007) fits seamlessly with the home's character, featuring updated cabinet fronts and a robust granite countertop. Appliances include a 6-burner gas stove with stainless steel hood, sink with mixer tap, dishwasher, and ample storage drawers. A designated niche accommodates the refrigerator. Large windows and direct access to the garden make the kitchen wonderfully light and functional.
First Floor:
The first floor comprises three well-proportioned bedrooms and a modern bathroom. The smallest bedroom, at the front, is ideal as a child’s or home office. It features original wooden flooring and a built-in closet. The second bedroom, also at the front, is spacious and bright, with large windows and French doors opening onto a southwest-facing balcony—a perfect morning coffee spot. This room also has a built-in closet and pleasant views.
The third bedroom at the rear is particularly large, thanks to the extension over the former balcony. It features wood flooring, neatly finished walls, and another built-in closet. The bathroom, fully renovated and enlarged in 2014, is modern and bright. It includes a second floating toilet, walk-in shower with thermostatic controls, a wide double sink with storage and mirror cabinet, and plumbing for both washer and dryer, discreetly concealed behind a partial wall. A design radiator and window provide comfort and ventilation.
Second Floor:
The staircase leads to the second floor, which serves as an eye-catching master suite. This large, open, and light-filled room features custom-built wardrobes, a dormer at the rear, and skylights at the front. The pitched ceiling creates a sense of openness, while the elevated bed platform adds character. A custom wardrobe wall has been installed on the gable end, and the central heating boiler (Remeha Avanta, 2016) is housed in a storage closet.
Back Garden:
The northeast-facing rear garden is at house level and features wooden decking and green boundaries, providing a mix of sun and shade throughout the summer months. Accessible from both the living room and kitchen, the garden also includes a detached stone shed, perfect for storing bikes and tools. The property also benefits from a convenient back entrance.
Location and surrounding area:
The location is superb, right in the heart of Diemen. The Watergraafsmeer area is just a 5-minute bike ride away, or take tram line 19 directly into central Amsterdam. Burgemeester van Tienenweg is one of the most charming streets in Diemen, with a friendly community and a shared neighborhood garden that welcomes volunteers. All essential amenities are nearby: the Diemerplein shopping center with a large AH XL, Hema, butcher, bakery, Douglas, and more is within walking distance. A weekly market is held every Wednesday. Sports enthusiasts will find facilities for football, tennis, and hockey in the area. Public transport (bus, tram, train) offers direct connections to Amsterdam, Schiphol, and the Gooi region. Parking is widely available and affordable, with residential permits costing just €96 for two years. Major highways (A1, A2, A9, A10) are within easy reach. For nature lovers, the Diemerbos forest offers a peaceful escape.
