ABOUT GELEEN-ZUID
Geleen-Zuid was largely developed in the 1960s and 70s to accommodate the town’s expansion. The Pastoor van Arskerk church was built in 1971, followed by various apartment complexes and residential areas extending toward the nearby village of Neerbeek.
As the southernmost district of Geleen, Geleen-Zuid features several apartment buildings (including the Pijperflat and Wagenaarflat) and provides important local amenities. These include the Graaf Huyn College (a secondary school), the Zuidhof shopping center, and a business park offering local employment.
