History of Villa Boschlust
Built around 1900 as café “De Echo” in an eclectic style. The café was destroyed by fire in 1903 and rebuilt. Another fire followed in 1909. The remains were sold to Johannes J. Bredius, director of the explosives factory “De Krijgsman” in Muiden. He had Boschlust built here, a hotel and guesthouse. It fell into a state of disrepair after the construction of the Afsluitdijk in 1932. Bredius decided to divide the property into a house and two flats.
In short: a spacious and characterful national monument in one of the most beautiful spots in Muiderberg – with views of greenery, plenty of space and a very rich history.
