It is wonderful to walk here under the trees and along the terraces on the waterfront. De Pijp with the Albert Cuyp market is just across the bridge. All amenities are within walking or cycling distance, including well-known cafés and restaurants such as The Geek Embassy, Hesp, Bam Boa, Rijssel, Ysbreeker, Baut Oost, Canvas (Volkshotel), and Dauphine, various theaters including Theater Carré and the National Opera & Ballet, city parks including Sarphatipark, Oosterpark, and Park Frankendael, and various (neighborhood) shops. A large Albert Heijn supermarket is within walking distance. There are good schools in the neighborhood. Very easily accessible by both public transport and car. The connection to the city is more than excellent, with tram and metro services, among others. The Wibautstraat and Weesperplein metro stations and Amstelstation train station are within walking distance. The A10 ring road is less than 5 minutes away by car. Seller says What makes the current residents enjoy living here and why have they decided to sell the house? The seller explains. We bought this house in early 2014. We found the location very attractive: next to the Amstel, close to the city center, theaters, restaurants, nice cafes, good schools, and sports clubs, yet very well and easily accessible by both car and public transportation. When we first cycled down the street, we immediately noticed how wide it was, with trees and front gardens. Once inside, we were overwhelmed by the amount of light coming in on both sides of the house (always sunny!) and the wonderful space, a sun-drenched double upper floor. And all this in what we now dare to say is one of the nicest streets in Amsterdam. A stroke of luck. What makes the neighborhood and this street in particular so unique, apart from the great location on the water, is that most people know each other and there is contact between residents. Every other year, for example, there is a street party where the street is closed off and residents eat and drink together at large tables. It is also a very child-friendly and green neighborhood. Children often play outside together, jump into the Amstel after school, or play in the schoolyard on the corner (of a very popular elementary school). The Weesperzijde has been beautifully renovated in recent years and is becoming greener and greener. It feels like a touch of Paris in Amsterdam. It is therefore no surprise that we wanted to stay in this street and neighborhood, even though we were slowly ready for a little more space with three growing boys and our work. When we unexpectedly had the opportunity to buy our neighbors' house a few doors down, we didn't hesitate for a moment. We hope, of course, that the future residents of our house will be just as happy here as we have been!
