Layout
Through the communal staircase or with the elevator you go to the third floor. The entrance to the apartment is on this floor and an internal staircase takes you to the fourth floor.
The spacious living room with half open kitchen is located at the front of the apartment and offers unobstructed views over the green Ceram Square. In the living room is an oak parquet floor with herringbone pattern. From the living room there is access through a sliding door to the sheltered terrace of approximately 25 m², where you can enjoy the sun most of the day in summer. The terrace has electricity and a water tap.
The living kitchen has a large kitchen island with a white Corian countertop, an induction cooktop, hood, sink and four large storage drawers. Environment and accessibility
The Ceram Square is a quiet and green square, around the corner from the lively Javastraat and Javaplein. The 'Indische buurt' in Amsterdam East has changed in recent years into a popular old town neighborhood with beautifully renovated buildings with many amenities within walking distance. It has a central location near the daily Dapper market, the Oosterpark, Flevopark (and swimming pool) and Artis. For the (neighborhood) stores you can go to the Javastraat, Molukkenstraat and the Eerste Van Swindenstraat, among others. In the neighborhood are many good eateries and trendy cafes such as the Badhuis Amsterdam, restaurant Wilde Zwijnen, Bar Basquiat, Hartje Oost and Studio K.
The apartment is conveniently located to the center, near the A10 ring road and is also easy to reach by public transport. Within walking distance of the NS Station Muiderpoort with a train connection to Amsterdam CS and towards Utrecht CS. There are also several important streetcar and bus connections around the corner that take you to the center and South. By bike, the center can be reached in 10 minutes.

What makes the current residents enjoy living here and why did they decide to sell the house? Seller explains.
When we first walked onto the square in 2002 we were immediately charmed by the lawn and the trees; so this is possible in Amsterdam too! And when we then walked into this apartment we were immediately sold: so spacious and light and then as a surprise such a large roof terrace. Since then we have always enjoyed living here. A lot of nice, friendly people live in this apartment complex; they are good neighbors, with whom you can have a chat, borrow something and who feel jointly responsible for a pleasant living environment.
We have seen the neighborhood change over the years: more lively with more nice restaurants and stores, without losing its diversity. You go to the Turk to buy some spices, at the Italian's to buy some delicious cheeses, an ice cream at IJs van Oost, where the whole neighborhood comes together, or coffee at Qahwa d'Or. Or you have a drink at the Young Admiral or the Badhuis; go out to eat at La Fucina or the Boars or get delicious couscous at the Couscousbar. Everything you could need so daily is within walking distance.
We often go for a walk in the Flevopark or cycle out towards Waterland or Muiden when the weather is nice. We are also in the center in no time: we cycle past the beautiful KIT and Artis, past the Hortus to the Meester Visserplein and into town. Or we go through the Oosterpark towards Amstel and Amstelhotel to Leidseplein. And if we want to get out of the city, there are 3 train stations within walking or biking distance. We don't use bus and streetcar much; we do everything on foot or by bike, but even those connections are very good here.
At home we always greatly enjoy all the skies, which we can see, both at the front and the back. All the colors of sunset and sunrise; the clouds whizzing by in strong winds and the sheep clouds in fine weather: we find it all equally beautiful. As soon as we can, we sit outside on the terrace, where we have also made a small vegetable garden. Then we eat tomatoes, peas, beans and cavolo nero from our own garden and are extremely proud of our own harvest.
In 2009, we commissioned architectural firm Studio Ruim to remodel our apartment. They succeeded very well in creating an open atmosphere in our home. We have created a wonderful kitchen (we quite like cooking), where we can enjoy cooking and not get in each other's way, and because of the open connection to the living room, it is also always very cozy when we have visitors. And then the sauna; we never thought it would be possible to have our own sauna, but it was. How nice to not have to leave the house after a day's work, but to be able to enjoy the sauna in our own home. That still feels like a very nice luxury.
We are going to miss this house and our neighbors and this neighborhood very much, but we have decided to live “outside” with a large garden, so that we can make a real vegetable garden there.
