History of the building:
“Villa Dubbelebuurt” was originally a manufacturers' villa. It was built in 1885 on behalf of Maurits Frans Pieper, director of the firm H.P. Pieper and Sons, which traded in chemicals, paint products, and bluing. The property was transferred in 1915 to the gentlemen Cremers, owners of the longstanding insurance firm C. Aviz D z. In 1937, a conservatory was added with a sturdy vault in the basement, which is still intact. The villa was extended in 1954 and 1962 with various office facilities. Wessanen’s Royal Factories rearranged the villa in 1970 to accommodate Spanish guest workers.
The villa was then aptly named “El Buen Hostal.” In February 1986, the building was sold to the Mercurius Group Wormerveer and was converted into the headquarters of this company. The villa, including the annex, was renovated in 2017, resulting in 10 luxury apartments. In 2023, the foundation was also completely renewed.
