Description
Before we tell you more about this lovely home, we’d like to first give the floor to the current owner.
In 1959, she and her husband bought this house as a newly built home. A solidly constructed property with a brick shed and an alley where the children could play safely. For many years, they lived here with great pleasure. Now, it’s time for a new generation — perhaps a family — to become the proud owner of this wonderful four-bedroom house.
To ensure the home is transferred in good condition, the owner recently hired a gardener to prepare the garden for winter. As the new owner, you’ll have the opportunity to modernize the property to your own taste, starting from a solid and well-maintained foundation.
Location
The location is ideal — just outside the center of Zaandam, yet within walking distance of many amenities such as schools, shops for daily groceries, sports facilities, and public transport. Within five minutes by bike or car, you can reach the city center of Zaandam, where you’ll find a wide range of shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues. From the train station, it takes only 12 minutes to reach the heart of Amsterdam.
Layout
Ground floor:
The hallway, like the rest of the house, is spacious and bright, with enough room for a coat rack. Under the stairs is a practical storage cupboard. You’ll also find a light-colored tiled floor, the meter cupboard, and a toilet with a small washbasin.
At the end of the hall, to the left, is the door to the living room. Between the sitting and dining areas stands a brick fireplace with an open hearth. From the sitting area on the south side, you look out onto the front garden, while at the dining area there’s a door leading to the back garden.
Both the living room and kitchen retain their original built-in cupboards. The kitchen (installed in 2018) features a natural stone countertop and built-in appliances: gas hob, extractor hood, dishwasher, combi-oven, and refrigerator. From here, you can step straight into the garden with a drink or meal in hand — or retreat to the cozy living room on colder days. Prefer an open-plan layout connected to the living area? We’ve had an artist’s impression created to show what that could look like — for inspiration!
First floor:
On the landing, you’ll find the doors to the bedrooms and bathroom, as well as a storage cupboard and the staircase to the second floor. There are two bedrooms at the rear — one of which has access to a balcony — and a third bedroom with a washbasin at the front. In total, there are three built-in wardrobes: one in the front bedroom and two in the master bedroom at the rear.
The bathroom was renovated around the year 2000. Large, light-colored wall tiles and a window make the space feel larger. The bathroom is fitted with a bathtub/shower combination, towel radiator, and washbasin unit. The ceiling with built-in lighting was renewed in October 2025.
Second floor:
The fourth bedroom, featuring a dormer window, is located at the rear of the house. This room also includes a washbasin, making it perfect for one of the children or teenagers.
On the landing, you’ll find the central heating boiler (high-efficiency model). The remaining space can be used for storage, as a home office, or hobby area.
Need a fifth bedroom? With a new layout and possibly adding a dormer to the front roof, you could easily create another full-size room — also shown in an artist’s impression.
Garden:
The mostly paved back garden faces north, offering both sun and shade thanks to its generous depth. On both sides are wooden fences, and the borders feature a variety of mostly evergreen plants. The brick shed provides storage for bicycles, and behind the yellow gate lies the alleyway. The front garden, with ornamental paving and planting, gives the house an attractive appearance.
