FOUR 3D-PRINTED ROCK HOUSES These innovative 3D-printed homes stand like boulders in their natural, wooded surroundings at a unique location in Bosrijk, Eindhoven. As if they've always been there, inspired by Bryce Canyon. From the outside, they’re real eye-catchers with their erratic boulder-like shapes, surrounded by a green room of nature. Inside, they’re extremely comfortable, cozy, bright, and quiet. This project is a first: the 3D concrete-printed houses meet all contemporary standards for construction, quality, and comfort. Landscape and interior are maximally connected. Following the first home from 2021, four more unique houses are now being realized, all ‘built’ using 3D concrete printing technology. Project Milestone is truly a milestone – not just for the concrete printing technology, but also for its design. Whereas traditional concrete construction often demands linear, rigid designs, 3D printing allows for much greater design freedom. This is clearly reflected in the design of all five homes. The homes in Project Milestone are already seen as the highlights of Bosrijk. Project Milestone is a special collaboration between the Municipality of Eindhoven, TU Eindhoven, and companies Van Wijnen, Saint Gobain-Weber Beamix, and Witteveen+Bos. The homes were designed by Houben / Van Mierlo Architects. WHAT MAKES THESE 4 HOMES SO SPECIAL? Design! Thanks to the 3D concrete printing method, the architect had great design freedom. This is reflected in the home's unique shapes, which feel both futuristic and timeless. Futuristic due to their striking architecture, timeless because the homes appear as natural elements of the landscape. Living comfort! These homes are cozy, bright, and quiet, and come fully equipped with modern features such as underfloor heating and a ventilation system with heat recovery. The houses are gas-free and are heated via the municipal district heating network. Open surroundings! There are no fences or enclosures around the homes. The lush natural environment belongs to all residents of Bosrijk, creating a pleasant, open atmosphere. The living room opens onto a terrace made of sustainable composite material with the natural look of wood. PROJECT MILESTONE – 2 HOME TYPES Type Hoodoo Plot Numbers 3 and 5 This detached home has 2 floors and 3 bedrooms. Type Navajoo Plot Numbers 2 and 4 This detached home has 3 floors and 3 bedrooms.
