Description
Jan Pieter Heijestraat, Amsterdam (Oud-West)
Please note: Offers starting from €440,000 costs for the buyer (k.k.).
Charming and bright one-bedroom apartment of 44 m² with a sunny balcony, located in the highly sought-after Amsterdam Oud-West.
Living on the vibrant Jan Pieter Heijestraat means enjoying everything Amsterdam Oud-West has to offer. Situated on the second floor, this charming apartment features a practical layout, an abundance of natural light, a sunny balcony, and all amenities within easy reach. An ideal home for first-time buyers, singles, or as a pied-à-terre in the city.
Previous resident's story:
I lived at this apartment for almost ten years, and over that time it truly felt like home.
Something I loved most was how much natural light I got. Because there are windows at the front and back, the light changes beautifully throughout the day. The apartment backs onto a courtyard, which makes the bedroom feel peaceful. The back balcony is a sweet little wind-blocking sun-trap for summer afternoons. I discovered endless ways to configure the space, mostly based around entertaining friends for gazelling dinner parties.
The neighbours are another reason this apartment is so special. A kind group, from a mix of backgrounds, mostly aged between 30s-40s. We would often help each other out with small things, and it wasn't unusual to meet for a drink. It created a real sense of community that I’ll miss for sure!
Jan Pieter is also one of my favourite streets in the city - since it’s jam packed with independent stores - a mix of coffee spots, bakeries, an italian speciality store, bike store, DIY store, trendy florist - where you really get to know the shopkeepers. The businesses right below meant there was always someone to pass on a good morning smile and feel safe coming home. The apartment is also close to two independent cinemas and of course the vondelpark, which made spontaneously meeting up with friends easy. Leaving this apartment after nearly a decade was genuinely difficult. It gave me so many happy memories, and I hope the next person who lives here enjoys it just as much as I did.
Layout
The apartment is located on the second floor and can be reached via the well-maintained communal entrance and staircase.
Upon entering, you are immediately welcomed by the abundance of natural light. Large windows at both the front and rear create a bright, spacious and inviting atmosphere throughout the apartment.
The living room is situated at the front of the property and offers pleasant views over the lively Jan Pieter Heijestraat. There is ample space for both a comfortable seating area and a dining table.
At the centre of the apartment is the timeless, light-coloured kitchen. It is fully equipped with a built-in four-burner gas hob, combination microwave oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and plenty of cupboard space.
Adjacent to the kitchen is an additional room that can easily be adapted to suit your needs, whether as a dining room, home office, hobby room or walk-in wardrobe.
The bedroom is located at the quiet rear of the apartment, overlooking the courtyard and providing a peaceful place to unwind. From the bedroom you have direct access to the sunny balcony.
The well-maintained bathroom features a shower cabin, washbasin and toilet. The hallway provides a practical space for a washing machine and also houses the central heating system. The central heating boiler was replaced in 2024.
