There are several good primary schools and childcare facilities in the neighbourhood, and within walking distance are the Middenmeer sports fields with football, hockey and tennis clubs, and of course the Jaap Eden ice rink.
For daily shopping and lovely specialist shops, there are the shops on Middenweg, Christiaan Huygensplein and the Oostpoort shopping centre. There are also good restaurants and cosy cafés in the neighbourhood. You can enjoy all the greenery and tranquillity in the nearby Park Frankendael, Flevopark and the rural Ringdijk.
Accessibility by both car and public transport is excellent. There are tram and bus stops on Middenweg, and the Amstel and Muiderpoort railway stations are within cycling distance. The seller explains
What makes the current residents so happy living here, and why have they decided to sell the property? The seller explains.
Watergraafsmeer feels like a village within the city. When our twins were three years old, we moved here from De Pijp. We immediately fell in love with the lovely atmosphere, the good primary schools and the safe, unrestricted outdoor play in the garden, in the courtyards and on Mariotteplein.
We chose this house because of the secluded, sunny garden and the tall windows running the full width of the house. When the sun shines in, it almost feels like a summer house. We fitted soundproof doors between the children’s bedroom and the living room for when they were sleeping, but during the day they were usually left open, creating one large living space where they could play and run around endlessly.
Our twins are now 13 and attending secondary school. As our teenagers are getting bigger, we’re ready for the next step and are moving to a more spacious home. It’s with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a lovely home full of wonderful memories. Hopefully, it will be just as lovely a place for the next residents as it has been for us.
