We got very lucky to have Sjoerd as our makelaar. Before contacting him we had a bad experience with another makelaar, so we definitely know how choosing a wrong person can affect your appartment hunt adventure. Starting from the initial call we got absolutely charmed with his calmness, politeness, attention to the details. He asked all the necessary questions, explained the whole process, making sure that we do understand all the steps. We got the feeling that we are in a very good hands right from the start. That was a tremendous relief - the whole process of buying an apartment is a huge stress, you definitely want to have as much help as possible from everywhere; having doubts in your makelaar can make matters much worse. Once we started actively searching and applying to the viewings, Sjoerd did his best to be with us on all of them. Having little to no experience with buying property in Amsterdam (and in the Netherlands), we didn't know all the things to look for when evaluating the apartment - things like quality of building materials, floor/pipes quality, dates of last renovations, earthpatch details, asbestos, etc. - Sjoerd covered all of it for us, drewing our attention to the most important stuff and explaining what it'd entail to fix/change/etc. During the bidding process Sjoerd helped us with choosing the right bid, ensuring that we don't overbid more than necessary. Sjoerd handled communications with selling makelaars, helped us with making techincal inspection, fixed us with the good notary, in short - was with us on every step of the way. Again, we cannot stress enough how much of the relief it is when you can just focus on search itself, without handling all the other details that otherwise would require you to spend a lot of efforts just to get the hang of things. We truly cannot say *anything* negative in our experience with Sjoerd, We'll recommend it to all of my friends and colleagues.
